Worship, Teaching & Preaching
Three phrases describe our worship style at Portland Pentecostals:
High Energy
Passionate
Creative
We express our love for God in song with passion and sincerity. We expect the Holy Spirit to meet us in our worship times, and as we wait on Him, He is so faithful to do just that! We have a heart for people to connect with the living God and honor Jesus Christ together following Biblical principles. We strive to provide an atmosphere of freedom in worship, while keeping order, so confusion doesn't cloud the worship experience. Our God is incredible, so we endeavor to give Him the kind of heart felt worship that He deserves!
TEACHING & PREACHING STYLES
Our teaching & preaching style makes use of two main styles we see in God's Word:
Topical- Jesus taught topically. He drew from the circumstances and world around Him in order to capture the hearts of listeners. Seasons of life within a church and community may call for specific topical focuses. This teaching style is typically found on Tuesday evenings.
Expository- We also see others in the Bible, such as Paul, teaching directly through Old Testament passages. This is also a valuable style of teaching. This allows Christ-followers to go deeper in their understanding of God's Word and theology derived, as well as how it applies to our everyday lives.
Our teaching sessions on Tuesday evenings are interactive and explore in depth the principles of God's Word and how to apply these principles in our own lives to place us in closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our Sunday worship experiences are designed to interactive. At the conclusion of a Preaching session there will most always be a time set aside to gather at the altar to respond to what has been said. This time allows for worship, submission & reflection.
